Selected Works: Raha Raissnia is an exhibition of Raissnia's dense explorations of light which manifest as works on paper, paintings and film installations. Described as a "night-painter," one that Milton Cruz situates as having a habit of "starting from the other side of things," Raissnia's works emerge from stillness, silence and darkness whilst operating at the fleeting moment of being half-awake, as light flutters between the hallucinatory state that is difficult to wrap around consciousness

It also marks Mainella’s first solo exhibition in London, where he currently resides, and his second solo show in the UK. The exhibition forms a gesamtkunstwerk, in which Mainella’s usual painting practice takes a more passive role as co-spectator in an environment that addresses issues of consumption, food production and waste through superficial mimesis.

Zilberman Gallery-Berlin announces the opening of the exhibition The Red Gaze. It presents a constellation of objects in four chapters—paintings, drawings, poems, sculptures, videos, soundtracks, performances, discussions—on the theme of "the witness," more specifically, the "artist as eye-witness" in times of duress and war. It will be accompanied by a catalog.

European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 presents a world premier of the new audio-visual installation by Mikhail Karikis: The Chalk Factory. Karikis’s practice embraces moving image, sound, performance, and other media, and emerges from his long-standing investigation of the voice as a political agent. He often collaborates with communities to orchestrate performances to camera in order to highlight alternative modes of human action and existence.

Sonic Rebellion: Music as Resistance is inspired by the vital history of music in Detroit and the legacy of the 1967 Detroit Rebellion. The show connects these historic events to more recent social movements, from Occupy to Black Lives Matter, illustrating threads between past protests and the unresolved racial politics in the United States today. One major such thread is the role of music as a catalyst for social change and empowerment.
