It’s dark. In the glow of the spotlights that illuminate the artworks, a black and yellow synthetic surface shimmers. The walls, floor, and ceiling – everything is covered in a smooth, plastic film. It continues in the centre of the room, taking the shape of an enormous, blow-up worm. For the exhibition I AM A PROBLEM, director and set designer Ersan Mondtag has created a dark, yet tantalizing parallel universe. In his spectacular staging of the MMK 2’s exhibition spaces, Mondtag has set in motion a dialogue between works from the museum’s collection, making them the protagonists of the narrative.

For her first solo exhibition in the Nordic countries, Belgian visual artist Ana Torfs brings together two major installations, The Parrot & the Nightingale, a Phantasmagoria (2014) and Legend (2009). Toast, an iconic photograph she made in 2003, functions as a connecting element between the two installations. On the occasion of this exhibition, Torfs made a two-sided poster in collaboration with graphic designer Jurgen Persijn.

Frieze London and Frieze Masters returns to The Regent's Park, from October 5 through 8.More than 160 leading galleries from 31 countries will showcase ambitious presentations by international emerging and established artists, enhanced by a curated non-profit programme of artist commissions, films and talks.

Pablo Bronstein: Conservatism, or The Long Reign of Pseudo-Georgian Architecture anchors around the work of internationally renowned artist Pablo Bronstein, and his exploration of "ubiquitous" neo-Georgian developments as an exemplar of British vernacular. He has created 50 new drawings of buildings constructed during the second half of the 20th century in an ostensibly neo-Georgian style.

“Containing, restraining, reforming, hurting, compressing, binding, transforming a lumpy shape into a clean smooth line,” is how American artist Christina Ramberg (1946–1995) once described the drawings of corsets in her sketchbooks. Ramberg was one of the most intriguing painters to emerge within a generation of Chicago Imagists. She left a significant body of comic, formally elegant, erotically sinister paintings. 

Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM) is announces Sakuliu Pavavaljung as the sole artist, representing Taiwan at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2021. Born in 1960 Sakuliu Pavavaljung has been highly acclaimed for his practice as a socially engaged artist. Growing up in a family of artisans of the Paiwan people in the village of Tavadran, Pingtung County, his art is not limited to any one form. He excels at painting, sculpture, architecture and installation.

The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago will appoint Myriam Ben Salah as Executive Director and Chief Curator effective September 15, 2020. Ben Salah, a Tunisian curator and writer, is currently co-organizing Made in L.A. 2020 at the Hammer Museum and The Huntington Library. She follows Solveig Øvstebø, who led the museum from 2013 until 2020, and will be the Ren’s third leader since 1973. 

Between 1910 and 1945, Seoul, (then known as Gyeongseong) was subject to Japanese colonial rule signified as a dark and despairing period in Korean history in which the country’s inhabitants were subject to oppressive social constraints. What is less discussed is the profound cultural revolution which struck the nation at the same period, introducing new Western philosophies, doctrines and cultures into society, and along with it new sciences and technologies. 

The Womb & The Diamond Realm is Charwei Tsai’s recent solo-exhibition in Taiwan curated by Dr. Jau-Ian Guo at Vital Space and Art Corner at National Taichung Theatre in Taiwan. The exhibition comes following the Tapiei-based artist’s series of personal pilgrimages exploring the tradition of tantra across the trade routes from the Tang Dynasty. 

For the first time in Germany at The Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, the works of Canadian modernist painters will be displayed in the exhibition ‘Magnetic North’ providing an opportunity for both celebration and critical revision. Curated by a three-fold effort from institutions across the nation, Dr Martina Weinhart of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, Georgiana Uhlyarik of the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, and Katerina Atanassova of the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.
