Book Description:
This is the first academic and comprehensive book about the Persian/Iranian nineteenth century poet laureate (Malek al-Sho'ara), painter, sculpture, and calligrapher, Mahmoud Saba (1813-1893). Based on a multidisciplinary approach, and using the life and works of this outstanding person as a reference point, the book would cover the politics, economics, diplomacy and culture of the period in order to highlight those factors that have had a lasting impact on Iran as well as on the global conduct of politics, diplomacy and cultural outlook. Throughout the book special attention would be paid to the historiography of the period. The themes developed in the book are based on areas identified as lacking in the current literature on the subject.
