Book Description:
'And then, look at Paris, do it in your imagination if your eyes can't find it, and see what a solid mass of a city it is, what a fugue in its composition, what an epic story in its stones, what an evanescent spirit in its rain.'; In Paris, When It's Naked, Etel Adnan inhabits the city towards the end of the millennium, around the birth of a 'united' Europe. Observing its different communities, strangers, loved ones, men and women of colour, rich and poor, Etel Adnan undresses Paris to offer meditations on gender, race, eros, place and illness against a background of war. A Lebanese American painter and writer whose artistic career took off internationally when she was in her eighties, Etel Adnan was a true citizen of the world. She died in Paris in November 2021, aged 96.
