The projector being aimed at a whiteish screen on its shoogly stand was made ready to purr, when, reel to rattling reel, the story was spun Aonghas MacNeacail, 'remembering which film' This anthology of new writing on cinema is part of a three-year project on the history of the Highlands and Islands Film Guild (1946-71), a mobile film initiative which brought film to rural communities throughout the Highlands and Islands. Focusing on the theme of 'memories of cinema-going', the collection draws together writing selected from an open competition, alongside new commissioned work from five celebrated writers-Christine De Luca, Aonghas MacNeacail, Kevin MacNeil, Alison Miller and Christie Williamson-all of whom hail from places where the Guild screenings took place.
